Irish Pub – Acrylic on canvas, 20″ x 16″
Contemporary realism, landscape, cityscape
We visited Key West by chance on St. Patrick’s Day. The people were feeling no pain and green was everywhere. In front of this Irish Pub was a blow-up leprechaun. Cute as he was, I couldn’t bring myself to paint him so I left him out of this painting. I left out the balloons too. They just seemed out of place. I love the yellow of the building next to the brilliant teal of the awning. I also loved the stark shadows on the whole scene, as it was around 6pm.
