On to San Francisco

Today I’ll finish up my latest Florida painting, called Lush Life. Not the end of the Florida paintings but I’m eager to move on to my San Francisco images. I love San Francisco. To visit, not live. I’d not been back in a few decades but when I emerged from the BART tunnel onto the street, the smell and feel of the place jogged my memory. It was like I’d never left. All the memories and emotions that made me love the place hit me in the face. I was haunted the whole time I was there.
It was great to see my old buddy, Merylee, from college. And her husband. They are some of our favorite people. We’d go back just to see them.
Merylee took us to a place I’d never been in the 4 years I lived there: Bernal Heights. At the top of that hill you get the best 360 degree view of the Bay Area. I hope to paint one of those images. A detailed landscape like that is a challenge for me but I’m going to give it a shot, even if it’s just a 20×24.
