Sunbleached corner in downtown Galveston. When Hurricane Ike blew through Galveston in 2008, it did horrendous damage to the landscape but this poor palm survived. I spent my entire life going to Galveston. It was about a 50-mile trip from Houston. My grandfather (my painter mentor) used to ride his bicycle there. He never seemed that athletic to me but he made the ride more than once.
